Over sixty women and girls, including a large number of mother-daughter, grandmother-granddaughter, and aunt-niece pairs, will perform songs with the theme of pilgrimage, continued from the fall session. The chorus itself will make a pilgrimage for a performance in Grafton on May 11 for the first time since 1999 and return to Brattleboro on May 12 for their usual Mothers’ Day concert. Joining the chorus will be the band Kestrel, comprised of Cynthia Hughes on harp, hurdy-gurdy, and guitar; Andra Horton on guitar, banjo, and whistle; and Russell Horton on dumbek and bongos. They are known for adapting the rhythms and harmonies of such places as northern Europe, the Mediterranean, Africa, the Middle East, and Appalachia. Songs to be performed will include “Chico Gospel” by MaMuse; “Stella Splendens,” a medieval pilgrimage song; “Glory Bound” as sung by the Wailin’ Jennies; “The Swallow Song” by Richard and Mimi Farina; and the traditional American songs, “Come and Go With Me” and “I’m On My Way,” arranged by Graber. Tickets are available only at the door, $10 adult, $15 generous, $8 seniors and students. For more information, call 802-254-8994 or email bwchorus@gmail.com. The White Church, Grafton VT 05146
