Grant Applications Now Being Accepted: Deadline Soon!

Applications are now available for 2021 Alfred Nash Patterson Grants. To apply for a grant, complete the online form on or before the deadline of Sunday, February 28, 2021. Located elsewhere on this website are full application instructions, information about last year's recipients, and a list of past recipients.

Due to the devastating pandemic of the past year, this year's grants have special criteria and funded projects can have an expedited schedule, with earlier projects (starting before July 2021) being preferred. However, any project that would be eligible in the past, and can be safely carried out, will be considered. Groups that received 2020 emergency grants remain eligible for the 2021 regular grant program.

Preference will be given to projects that highlight aspects of our current moment in history, particularly those with the promise to benefit choral singing into the future—such as new ways to build choral skills, enhance collaboration, or develop and engage audiences. As always, we encourage collaborations with other choral and arts organizations and with the community at large. Proposals are encouraged for projects that contribute to greater inclusion, equity, and diversity in the choral arts in New England, through musical partnerships, community engagement, choice of repertoire, or other means.

Choral Arts New England has given Alfred Nash Patterson grants, established in memory of the legendary founding music director of Boston's Chorus pro Musica, since 1985. The purpose of the grants is to support choral music in New England. Recipients include New England choruses, both amateur and professional; parent organizations of New England choruses; and any other group supporting choral music in New England. Church choirs, school or college choruses, and non-performing organizations are eligible. Grant recipients must be non-profit and certified tax-exempt — 501(c)(3) — by the IRS.

Grant decisions will be made by mid-April, 2021, and funds will be distributed shortly thereafter.
