Celestial projections accompany reflective and thought-provoking choral music about the night sky in the Charter Oak Cultural Center inside performance space, including works by Erik Esenvalds, Laura Mvula, Saunder Choi, Fanny Hensel, Marques L.A. Garrett, Claudio Monteverdi, and more. With Unitus Ensemble. Admission: $15. Did you know that not everyone has access to viewing the night sky? An interactive tour of choral music by exploring the footnotes: the interesting tidbits that lend to the intriguing journey some of these songs have taken, such as Allegri's Miserere, as well as the inclusion of composers who may have been relegated to the footnotes historically, such as Rhienberger, a brilliant composer considered of secondary importance by his contemporaries, or Cozzolani, a prominent 17th century composer of which you may not have heard. The concert program will be digital and the audience will have the opportunity to categorize the songs via an app specifically designed for this concert. The result will be an eclectic mix of artfully crafted choral music, compelling stories of the songs, and a little trivia fun. In lieu of admission, donations will be gratefully accepted to benefit the Neighbor Fund, a local organization that provides financial support for our neighbors facing deportation. Featuring selections by Lauridsen, Monteverdi, Holst, Whitacre, Schutz and more to explore “whether love, like music, can transcend time, the written page, and even the actual physical production of sound.” Led by founding director Sarah Kaufold, Voices of Concinnity is a 12-voice chamber ensemble of dedicated, seasoned choral artists from diverse backgrounds.
