Re-imagined arrangements of “Angels We Have Heard on High”, “Lo, How a Rose E‘er Blooming”, “How Great Our Joy”, “O Come All Ye Faithful”, “Silent Night”, and so much more! SMFC’s annual holiday concert features over 100 singers, 4 octaves of handbells, and 30-piece orchestra performing popular and classic carols from France and Germany presented holiday-pops style. You may know the sublimely beautiful Requiem by the 19th century composer Gabriel Fauré, but did you know that his predecessor by 300 years, Eustache de Caurroy, wrote a Requiem for the death of King Henry IV which was then used at the funerals of French kings for the next 200 years? Motets by Palestrina and other leading composers active in Rome, and a new work by Cheryl Frances-Hoad written especially for Stile Antico and this program.
