Choral Arts New England Awards Ceremony: November 3, 2024

Choral Arts New England held its 40th annual Awards Ceremony on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at 3:00pm at

This year's ceremony honored the recipients of the 2024 Alfred Nash Patterson Awards and recognized Dr. André De Quadros with the Alfred Nash Patterson Lifetime Achievement Award for exceptional contributions to the choral arts.

2024 Alfred Nash Patterson Grant Recipients

Choral Arts New England is delighted to announce the funding of 16 project grants totaling $29,000, which exceeds our previous highest award total of $25,000 in the 2023 cycle. Award recipients represent choral organizations across New England, including from Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont and Massachusetts, and were chosen out of 48 applications.

Award recipients will be honored at our grant ceremony in the fall of 2024, and the projects are described below from excerpts of the applications. In addition, where a recipient received a named grant, is listed next to the recipient’s name.

2023 Alfred Nash Patterson Grant Recipients

Choral Arts New England is delighted to announce the funding of 13 project grants totaling $25,000, which exceeds our previous highest award total of $23,500 in the 2022 cycle. Award recipients represent choral organizations across New England, including from Connecticut, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts, and were chosen out of 42 applications.

Award recipients will be honored at our grant ceremony in the fall of 2023, and the projects are described below from excerpts of the applications. In addition, the name of the grant, if applicable, is listed next to the recipient’s name.

Grant Applications Now Open!

Our 2023 grants cycle has begun! Alfred Nash Patterson Grants have been awarded continuously since 1985, and have funded over 300 different projects to the tune of some $380,000. The grants support choral music in New England, and can be awarded to New England choruses, both volunteer and professional; parent organizations of New England choruses; and New England organizations that provide support to choral music.

As a result of our successful A Voice for Voices campaign, we are able to fund more projects at higher levels than ever before!

Grant Applications to Open on January 1, 2023

Our 2023 grants cycle begins soon! Alfred Nash Patterson Grants have been awarded continuously since 1985, and have funded over 220 different projects to the tune of some $280,000. The grants support choral music in New England, and can be awarded to New England choruses, both volunteer and professional; parent organizations of New England choruses; and New England organizations that provide support to choral music.

As a result of our successful Voice for Voices campaign, we are able to fund more projects at higher levels than ever before!

2022 Alfred Nash Patterson Grant Recipients

Choral Arts New England is delighted to announce the funding of 14 Alfred Nash Patterson grants, for a total of $23,550, in the 2022 grant cycle. The total amount awarded this year is the largest in the history of the grants program, thanks to the continued success of the capital campaign, "A Voice for Voices". The campaign will continue to accept new pledges and donations through the middle of 2022.

Choral Arts New England 2021 Awards Ceremony: Saturday, October 23

Choral Arts New England held its annual Awards Ceremony on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 4 p.m. in Wellesley, Massachusetts. Due to public health-related space restrictions, attendance at the event is by invitation only. However, the ceremony will be available for streaming live and available for later viewing on YouTube (linked on the Choral Arts YouTube channel).

2021 Alfred Nash Patterson Grant Recipients Announced

Choral Arts New England has announced the funding of 10 grants, for a total of $13,000, starting in 2021. The funded projects were selected from 46 proposals received. Last year, 51 applications were received and $13,500 was given in grants. The grant recipients, listed alphabetically, are Classical Uprising (Portland, Maine), Coro Allegro (Boston, Mass.), Ensemble Altera (Johnston, R.I.), The Keene Chorale (Keene, N.H.), The Main Street Children's Choir (New Britain, Conn.), Metropolitan Chorale (Brookline, Mass.), Renaissance Men (Westwood, Mass.), Schoodic Arts for All (Winter Harbor, Maine), Solaris Vocal Ensemble (Essex Junction, Vt.), and Worcester Children's Chorus (Worcester, Mass.).
