Schoodic Summer Chorus
A multi-generational a capella community chorus devoted to nurturing musicianship and community, in residence at Hammond Hall in Winter Harbor, Maine and sponsored by Schoodic Arts for All. Its members share a passion for singing beautiful and unusual music. Directed by singer and composer Anna Dembska, the chorus is open to anyone who loves to sing. Rehearsals are at Hammond Hall, Winter Harbor, ME.
2016 Program: Land and Sea. This year we’ll be singing about the beauties and mysteries of the land and sea, with traditional music of Republic of Georgia, Haiti, Africa, Great Britain, and more; composers including Baroque master Claudio Monteverdi, 20th-century French songwriter Charles Trenet, and Maine’s own David Dodson; and lyrics by poets ranging from Shakespeare to Emily Dickinson to Belfast poet laureate emeritus Karin Spitfire.
Rehearsals are at Hammond Hall in Winter Harbor, 6-9 pm. The schedule is:
- Tuesdays, May 24–July 26
- Thursday, July 28
- Sunday, July 31
To make sure everyone is prepared to perform the music together, we ask that singers commit to missing no more than 2 rehearsals. If you have a scheduling problem but really want to sing with us, please contact Anna.
