COVID Emergency Grants Announced
In this extraordinary time of need, CANE has offered twenty emergency grants of $500 dollars each to ensembles throughout New England. Choral Arts New England Emergency Grants are a special initiative to provide immediate assistance to organizations experiencing difficulty due to circumstances related to COVID-19. “We received close to 60 applications from choral organizations and our final decisions were focused on those smaller organizations for whom the grant would have the most impact,” said Gregory Brown, CANE’s board chair. Celebrating Innovation and Creativity
The holiday season is a time for gathering and singing some of our favorite traditional and contemporary music . Choral groups from around New England are finding ways to continue that “gathering” through virtual sing-a-longs and concerts. Here are a few examples:

Call for CANE Project Grants
In addition to this year’s special Emergency Grants cycle, CANE is inviting applications for project based grants of the type we have been supporting for the past three decades. This year we are especially interested in projects that relate to our current moment in history and could relate to topics such as health care, social justice, politics, and/or technology, etc. Please check out our website for more information and application guidelines.
Campaign Update: A Voice for Voices
All of us at CANE sing, direct, compose, and/or otherwise work within our choral community. This has been an achingly difficult time to be in the choral arts because we have largely been so isolated from one another. But with your support, we have been able to be helpful in the moment and also to look and plan ahead for what can come out of this fraught period.
We have made $10,000 worth of emergency grants to vulnerable choral organizations. And we have so far raised almost half of our endowment-doubling goal of $300,000. This has been achieved through both numerous small donations as well as through several more sizable gifts that take advantage of our campaign’s grant-naming opportunity.
