One City Choir
The One City Choir, launched in the summer of 2012, is a large symphonic choir comprising committed and passionate singers from all of Boston’s 20 neighborhoods and many surrounding communities. The choir takes its name from the words of Boston civic leader Hubie Jones, who has advocated that “Boston can be one city through arts and culture.”
In 2017, the choir will perform Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 on Wednesday, August 2 at 7:00 PM (rain date, Thursday, August 3) at the DCR’s Hatch Memorial Shell.
All singers in the Boston area who have experience singing in choirs are invited to join the One City Choir. The One City Choir will again be joined by the Back Bay Chorale. Scott Allen Jarrett, music director of the Back Bay Chorale, will prepare the choir, and Christopher Wilkins will conduct the performance.
Prospective members are encouraged to attend an optional open house on Monday, June 12 from 7:15-9:30 PM. Scott Allen Jarrett will lead a reading of the Beethoven, and members of the Boston Landmarks Orchestra staff will answer any questions you may have about participating in the One City Choir. This will be an informal, optional get-together. You will not be auditioned.
Music will be provided.
