Litchfield County Choral Union
Each year since 1951 the Litchfield County Choral Union has presented a major choral work with orchestra in the Music Shed the Battell-Stoeckel estate at the intersection of routes 44 and 272 in Norfolk, Connecticut. The building, lined with California redwood, is a concert hall of remarkably fine acoustic quality. No auditions required, though the pace of our rehearsals encourages dedicated and regular participation. Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM. Additional rehearsal sessions occur on alternate Wednesday evenings during the concert season.
The 2017 season features works of Johann Sebastian Bach:
- Es ist das Heil uns kommen her - BWV 9
- Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit - BWV 106
- Vergnügte Ruh for solo alto - BWV 170
- Jesu, meine Freude - BWV 227
With the LCCU Festival Orchestra, featuring alto soloist Allison Messier and Barbara Youmans-Nosko, mezzo-soprano; Gregory Zavracky, tenor; Carlos Martinez, bass.
The conert is Sunday 30 July 2017 at 3:00 PM.
