Harvard Summer Chorus
The chorus, under the direction of Harvard University’s Director of Choral Activities Andrew Clark, is open by audition to Harvard Summer School students and Greater Boston community singers. The chorus performs masterworks with full orchestral accompaniment.
Program: Aaron Copland’s Old American Songs and Lukas Foss’s remarkable setting of Carl Sandburg’s poem The Prairie, two iconic works of American identity and idealism. A select subset ensemble from the Summer Chorus will be traveling to Peterborough, New Hampshire to perform at the Monadnock Music Festival on Sunday August 3. The Summer Chorus will be collaborating with the Boston Modern Orchestra Project in both performances.
Rehearsals are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7 to 9:30 pm, in Sanders Theatre, starting Tuesday, June 24. The concert is held in Sanders Theatre, tentatively scheduled for Friday, August 1, at 8 pm. For more information, contact summer chorus manager Veronica Behrens at harvardsummerchorus@gmail.com.
