Chorus description:
For nearly 40 years, The Ipswich River Community Chorus (formerly the North Reading Community Chorale) has been bringing choral music to North Reading. The chorus performs a diverse selection of musical styles, from pop to classical to Broadway to traditional chorus and more. The membership consists of people from communities throughout Middlesex and Essex counties. The chorus holds concerts in December and May. Membership is open to all. Prior experience in choral singing or four part harmony is a plus, but not required. While we love to meet new singers with prior experience, many of our members have come to the chorus without having sung in a chorus and with no ability to read music. All it really takes to be successful with IRCC is a love of singing and a “can do” attitude! We begin on the 2nd Monday in September for the winter season and the 2nd Monday in January for the spring season. The first few rehearsals are open to anyone who is interested in learning about the chorus and we invite prospective new members to come early, if possible (any time after 7pm). Open rehearsals are a great introduction to the chorus and a great way to find out who we are, what we’re about, and what we’ll be singing.
