Chorus description:
The Master Singers of Worcester (MSW) is a group of dedicated musicians from Worcester and neighboring communities who contribute their time and talent to the performance of diverse and innovative choral music. The chorus is non-denominational and multigenerational, with members ranging in age from young adult through senior. MSW accepts talented, motivated college and graduate school students for membership. As part of their outreach to the community, MSW members fully underwrite the cost of dues. Under the direction of its first conductor, Alfred Nash Patterson, the Master Singers established themselves as a preeminent organization by performing works by masters, known and lesser-known, from the past and present. Since then, the Master Singers have presented a wide variety of choral music, both a cappella and accompanied. Under their current Artistic Director, the chorus continues to bring new or rarely performed works to central Massachusetts, including such works as Ellington's Sacred Concerts, Libby Larson's Eleanor Roosevelt, Handel's Israel in Egypt, Gwyneth Walker's New England Journey (commissioned by the chorus for their thirtieth anniversary) and Joseph Jongen's Festival Mass.
