DescriptionBoston Choral Ensemble’s mission is to create, preserve, and promote engaging musical experiences. We envision a richer and more diverse choral scene in Greater Boston and beyond. Our programs are varied and engage listeners both intellectually and emotionally.
In recent years, programs have included musical monuments like Rachmaninoff's All-Night Vigil (Vespers) and Poulenc's Mass in G, modern masterpieces like MacMillan’s Seven Last Words and Talbot's Path of Miralces, masterworks of the Renaissance such as Taverner's Dum transisset Sabbatum and Lassus's Lagrime di San Pietro, and other works by composers such as Britten, Distler, Howells, Schumann, Josquin, Schütz, Tallis, and Victoria.
Boston Choral Ensemble takes pride in placing choral music in unique settings. Past concerts have explored the cosmos at the Hayden Planetarium at the Museum of Science, celebrated the LGBTQ+ community at the Oberon Theater, and invited the audience on a multi-sensory "tasting menu" of music with sounds, scents and tastes to accompany each piece.
