A unique collaborative a cappella concert that features two diverse a cappella singing ensembles, the Conn Men from UConn and Voices of Concinnity, a new vocal ensemble from northeastern CT. Eastern Connecticut’s newest vocal chamber ensemble, Voices of Concinnity, explores the stories behind this music and how the singing of the text could affect us more profoundly than spoken word. Featuring selections by Lauridsen, Monteverdi, Holst, Whitacre, Schutz and more to explore “whether love, like music, can transcend time, the written page, and even the actual physical production of sound.” Led by founding director Sarah Kaufold, Voices of Concinnity is a 12-voice chamber ensemble of dedicated, seasoned choral artists from diverse backgrounds. Concinnity will experiment with the alignment of vocal timbres while exploring the stories of this collection of a cappella music possessing rich harmonies, compelling texts, and the capacity to affect one's soul. iCal 5:00 PM. Voices of Concinnity [CT]: Old, New, Borrowed, and Long Overdue: an interactive tour of choral music by exploring the footnotes. An inclusive, interactive, and innovative program including the interesting tidbits that lend to the incredible journey some songs have taken, such as Allegri's Misesere, as well as some composers who may have been relegated to the footnotes due to their gender, race, or otherwise. The concert program will be digital and the audience will have the opportunity to categorize the songs via an app specifically designed for this concert. The result will be an eclectic mix of artfully crafted choral music, compelling stories of the songs, and a little trivia fun. In lieu of admission, donations will be gratefully accepted to benefit the Neighbor Fund, a local organization that provides financial support for our neighbors facing deportation.
