Johannes Brahms: Nanie; Florence Price “Song of Hope” (South Shore premiere); Ralph Vaughan Williams: Dona Nobis Pacem. Danica A. Buckley, conductor. All three pieces balance somber text with the eternal beauty of art and nature. The lush orchestration and flowing choral lines depart a sense of wonder. Ej Mills Brennan, of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, accompanying on silver flute and performing solo on native flute. We will sing of the ocean and its creatures; the birds, the bees, barnyard animals, and more; water, of lakes, streams, and rivers; the land, with its mountains, canyons, and meadows. and the beach, especially in Truro.
