One City Choir

The One City Choir, launched in the summer of 2012, is a large symphonic choir comprising committed and passionate singers from all of Boston’s 23 neighborhoods and many surrounding communities. The choir takes its name from the words of Boston civic leader Hubie Jones, who has advocated that “Boston can be one city through arts and culture.”

In 2019, the One City Choir will showcase African-American music from spirituals to the Broadway stage. All singers in the Boston Area who have experience singing with choirs are invited to join.

Rehearsals be from 7:30–10:00 p.m. on June 27, July 11, July 18, July 25, at Peoples Baptist Church, 830 Tremont St, Boston, MA 02118, then

  • July 29 from 5:00-7:00 pm with orchestra at Fraser Performance Studio at WGBH (1 Guest Street, Boston)
  • July 30 7:30-10:30 pm with orchestra at Hatch Shell, and
  • July 31 5:30 sound check / 7:00 concert. Rain date for concert is August 1.

You must be able to attend at least 3 of the 4 rehearsals between June 27 and July 25, and all of the rehearsals between July 29 and July 31 to participate.
