Chorus description:
Voices of MetroWest is a non-sectarian, co-ed, multi-generational and multi-cultural choir whose mission is to promote singing as an act of passion and compassion. Through both our membership cultivation initiatives and our interactive public concerts, we build community by conveying inspiration and joy through song. As a reflection of our multi-cultural and multi-generational members, our repertoire includes music from many varying styles and decades: gospel, R&B, oldies, jazz, pop, Motown, 80s, 90s, Showtunes, and Classic Rock! We do not hold auditions and we welcome all interested individuals, both trained and non-trained, regardless of age, ability, culture, national origin, or financial circumstances. Our support comes from event proceeds, singer tuition, sponsorships, sustaining memberships and donations received from other private and public funding sources. We would love for you to join our family! Our membership is as diverse as the MetroWest community. We actively recruit singers, musicians, and technical support at-large, from senior centers to local high schools, including programs that serve disadvantaged youth. On a weekly basis, directors and members mentor both experienced and untrained voices; individuals need only have a desire to sing. This spirited and supportive environment is a uniquely rewarding experience, one in which musical excellence is promoted, friendships flourish and lives are enriched. We value and support the arts in the community-at-large, in all its varied forms of expression. Performances are planned in collaboration with local arts and civic organizations. Our concerts are celebrations in which we join voices, dance with and lift the spirits of all present. Musical selections are often creatively improvised, heightening the unique power of music to expand our imaginations and connect people to each other.
