Chorus description:
The un-auditioned world music community choir is led by the dynamic team of Patty Cuyler and Larry Gordon — the co-directors of Vermont-based Village Harmony — and Sinead O’Mahoney, dynamic young Village Harmony leader, and is open to teen and adult singers of all singing experience. Because our rehearsals are not weekly but rather one weekend each month, the group includes singers from all over New England, with local Boston-area singers offering overnight housing for our many members from western Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, New Jersey, Connecticut and Rhode Island. Our repertoire of authentic, challenging world music includes dance-songs from South Africa, folk polyphony from the Balkans, Caucasus Georgia and Corsica, and traditional American shape-note songs, folk arrangements, and gospel quartet songs. Fluent music-reading and prior singing experience, while great assets, are NOT necessary to participate. Singers may join the chorus at any rehearsal through January. Boston Harmony monthly rehearsals are held at the Masonic Hall on the green in Concord, MA. We share potluck meals Saturday night/Sunday mid-day. Housing is easily arranged for people from out of town. Saturday rehearsals are 2-8pm and Sundays are 10:30am-3pm.
