iCal 3:00 PM. Burlington Choral Society [VT]: Benjamin Britten Centenary Choral Concert. The Burlington Choral Society (Richard Riley, Artistic Director) celebrates the 100th birthday of Benjamin Britten. Included on the program are two of Britten's beloved cantatas, Saint Nicolas and Rejoice in the Lamb, as well as excerpts from the gorgeous Serenade for Tenor, Horn, and Strings. St. Nicolas tells the story of the legendary fourth-century gift-giving saint, whose notable miracles included resurrecting three boys pickled in brine and saving sailors from a shipwreck. Rejoice in the Lamb sets portions of the remarkable Jubilate Agno written from an asylum by 18th-century poet-mystic Christopher Smart.
