Part of a series which focuses on musical works that emerged in times of crisis or in some way speak to our vulnerability and coping through times of crisis. On Oct. 11 we take a close look at a J.S. Bach cantata (BWV 25), with Artistic Director, Dr. Ellen Gilson Voth and a dynamic speaker and Bach expert, Dr. Chris Shepard. This presentation will have an enormous amount to offer to everyone, regardless of how much or little you know of Bach and his music. Farmington Valley Chorale hosts its second event in its "Music in Response" series - focusing on works composed in times of crisis or in response to crisis. This Sunday, Nov. 15 at 7 pm ET, Kathy Saltzman Romey (Minnesota Chorale) and Ellen Gilson Voth, Artistic Director of FVC, will explore Ralph Vaughan Williams' cantata, Dona Nobis Pacem, and how this incredible work speaks to our time. A discussion of music and the natural world - how music presents its beauty and power, as well as its dependence on our protection and care. Conductor Scott Allen Jarrett and composer Geoffrey Hudson will be talking about Haydn's oratorio The Seasons, as well as Hudson's recent work, A Passion for the Planet, in response to the issue of climate change. Our conversation will be live-streamed on Chorale's Facebook page, available to anyone to watch (with or without a Facebook account).
