7:30 PM. Sounds of Stow Chorus and Orchestra [MA]: Sing with Sounds of Stow Chorus and Orchestra. The Sounds of Stow Chorus and Orchestra welcomes singers in all voice categories to join us in preparing for our fall concert Sunday, Nov. 22. Artistic Director and Conductor Barbara Jones has selected Monteverdi’s “Vespers of 1610”, which will be presented with full orchestral accompaniment and some of Boston’s outstanding Baroque singers. The “Vespers” is alternately large scale and intimate, and it is considered the first major work for chorus and orchestra. It is unusual for a community chorus to perform this piece; do not miss this opportunity to appreciate its wonders as we work together through weekly rehearsals. Sounds of Stow first performed this splendid work in 2010 and we return to it now because it was such a memorable experience for performers and audience alike. Open rehearsals are Monday evenings from 7:30-9:30 starting August 31. Participation in the SATB chorus is open to all—no auditions required—and offers the opportunity to learn exciting and challenging music in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. For more information, call 978-707-9887 or email barbjonz@me.com. First Parish Church, 353, Great Rd. Stow MA 01775 ⓘ
