The combination of a long-awaited male vocal-strong membership, combined with Garland's booming baritone voice and character promises a momentous performance for soloists, chorus, and a unique 6-musician percussion section combined with four hand piano arrangement. Music Director William B. Richter will conduct, accompanied by pianists Elizabeth Chapman Reilly and Susan Land Hotchkiss and percussion section. Using selections as diverse as folksongs, shape note tunes, and spirituals, and including compositions by Stephen Foster, George M. Cohan, and Cole Porter, singers will celebrate the sheer variety of American music. One of the featured pieces in the program will be the moving arrangement of the national anthem that was performed by the Brooklyn Youth Chorus at the tenth anniversary commemoration of 9/11 in New York. iCal 7:30 PM. Pilgrim Festival Chorus [MA]: Celebrate! – Messiah and Carol Sing-along. PFC Director William B. Richter leads the audience in both carols and the familiar choruses from Part I of Handel’s masterpiece, concluding with the Hallelujah Chorus. Solos selected from Part I will be sung by local vocalists. Accompaniment on the church’s recently refurbished Roche pipe organ is performed by PFC Accompanist and Assistant Director Elizabeth Chapman Reilly. Tickets are $10.00 for adults and youth ages 12 and up, available at the door. Scores are available to borrow on site, or attendees are welcome to bring their own.
