Chorus description:
A non-auditioned, mixed chorus (SATB), whose members come from many towns on the South Shore and enjoy learning, learning about, and performing classical choral music. We rehearse weekly, Monday evenings from September to early May, from 7:30-9:30 at the First Trinitarian Congregational Church, 381 Country Way, Scituate, in preparation for two concerts a year: one at the holiday season, and one in spring. Rehearsals for the holiday concert begin the week after Labor Day, and the first 2 rehearsals are open, so potential members can join us to learn about the group and the music we'll be singing. New members in all parts are welcome. Opportunities are available for group and solo singing. The ability to read music is very helpful, but not necessary; rehearsal tapes/CDs will be available. Director Danica A. Buckley M.M. has been Artistic Director and Conductor since 2005. She is also conductor of the Simmons College Concert Choir and formerly the Music Director for First Parish in Brookline and the Braintree Choral Society. Ms. Buckley has her Master of Music from Boston Conservatory; she is the founder and former director of Mad River Chorale (VT), and the Osterville (MA) Community Chorus. Choral Art Society is funded in part by grants from the Arts Councils of Cohasset, Hull, Norwell, and Scituate. Rehearsal and performance sites are handicapped accessible.
