A spirit-filled concert offering an eclectic mix of music rooted in the African American gospel tradition, including Aretha Franklin’s "How I Got Over", Rhiannon Giddens’ "Up Above My Head", Jonathan Butler’s "Our Voices Matter", CeCe Winans’ "Goodness of God", and music John P. Visiting music director Mike Pfitzer leads more than 150 singers in a concert of music from a variety of locations, styles, cultures, and time periods, including Linda Hirschhorn’s There Will Always Be Singing; the South African protest song Akanamandla; Trilo, a Swedish prayer song for the safe return of boats; Simon and Garfunkel’s "Bridge Over Troubled Water"; and popular modern folk songs - the Wailin’ Jennys’ "One Voice" and Brandi Carlile and Alicia Keys’ "A Beautiful Noise".   • The Seraphim Singers [MA]: Inspired to Joy. We have been through many challenges in recent years, yet Joy resurfaces from consolation growing into hope. Ivo Antognini: Hope is the thing with feathers (poetry by Emily Dickinson); Hubert Parry: There is an old belief; Samuel Coleridge-Taylor: Magnificat in F; Trevor Weston: Lauda (premiere, commissioned work, poetry by Angelo Geter); works of J.S. Bach, Felix Mendelssohn, Franz Biebl, and Maurice Duruflé. Pre-concert forum with Trevor Weston, and Angelo Geter at 7:30 pm on March 2. The March 3 concert will be broadcast.
