iCal 3:00 PM. Cantilena Chamber Choir [MA]: Christmas at Trinity. Russian and English carols and settings of old favorites by American composers, including Tchaikovsky’s setting of Crown of Roses (sung in Russian); John Rutter settings of English carols, such as "Here is that Little door" and "There is a flower"; Stephen Paulus and Gregg Smith's settings of "Gabriel’s Message" and Coventry Carol. With a carol sing-along and a special performance by the Taconic High School Choir under the direction of Jessica Passetto. $20 adults, $15 students/seniors, and free for children 12 and under. iCal 3:00 PM. Cantilena Chamber Choir [MA]: Martin Luther King Concert of Spirituals. Fourth annual Psalms and Spirituals open sing, featuring the Zion AME Church Choir from Pittsfield under the direction of Paul Keele, and Community Activist Shirley Edgerton. Dr. King will be remembered in poems and speeches, but the focus of the program will be a spiritual sing along with the choirs. The choirs will also perform well-known spirituals by Moses Hogan. Bach: Cantata #4, "Christ Lag in Todesbanden"; motet "Ich lasse dich nicht"; Johannes Brahms:"O Heiland Reiss"; Op. 29 nos. 1 and 2. Joan Cererols: Ay! Que Dolor! (paralleling the opening of the St. Matthew Passion); works by Robert Pearsall and Manuel Cardosa. iCal 7:00 PM. Cantilena Chamber Choir [MA]: Film screening: Robert Shaw, Man of Many Voices. A showing of the new documentary film, Robert Shaw - Man of Many Voices, a chronological examination of Shaw's remarkable life and meteoric rise to national fame as a choral ad orchestral conductor. Interspersed with archival film and peer interviews, the film explores Shaw’s beginnings in a small California town through the challenges and triumphs of his serendipitous and improbable career.
