Keene Chorale seeks Music Director

The Keene Chorale seeks an experienced music director to inspire and lead its members in their annual concerts offered to the greater Keene NH Community. The director must demonstrate a broad knowledge of music and language and must bring this knowledge to the Chorale with enthusiasm, passion, and energy. The director will create challenging and balanced programs from the choral literature and have extensive experience in choral and instrumental conducting with non-professional choruses. Equally important is experience in vocal and choral training along with the ability to lead efficient and productive rehearsals. The new director should be an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create and nurture a community of singers. The candidate should have a master’s degree in music with an emphasis on choral conducting or equivalent experience. Salary based on experience.

The Keene Chorale has a compelling musical mission: it is open to everyone, and for 45 years, the Chorale has been bringing quality choral music to audiences in Keene and throughout the Monadnock NH area. During that time, the Chorale has performed a plethora of concerts: choral concerts that featured major works by Handel, Verdi, Dvorak, and Mendelssohn; rarely performed works by Benjamin Britten and L. Nathaniel Dett (a New England premiere); and U.S. composers such as Leonard Bernstein; along with collaborations with choruses and orchestras throughout New England that culminated in last season’s exciting “road” trip to NYC’s Carnegie Hall to sing the Verdi Requiem. Its 70 choristers come from the many towns in the Monadnock region, are from all walks of life, all ages—20’s to 80’s—and they need not have experience in a choral setting. Some have sung in choirs all their lives while others are having their first choral experience as a member of the Keene Chorale. All that’s needed is a desire to sing with others.

Please send a cover letter and resume containing contact information, education, experience, 2 letters of recommendation, and video of past conducting if available to Lenny Matczynski:
