The Brattleboro Concert Choir (formerly the Brattleboro Community Chorus) is the oldest program of the Brattleboro Music Center. The choir was founded by Blanche Moyse, who envisioned a well-trained community chorus as the centerpiece of her vision of an arts organization dedicated to promoting the love of music. Members participate in weekly sectional rehearsals as well as weekly full group rehearsal. Guest vocal coaches conduct workshops on a regular basis.
Over the twenty-five years the choir’s programming has included such works as the Rachmaninoff All-Night Vigil, Handel’s Israel in Egypt, Bloch’s Sacred Service, Mozart Vesperae Solemnes, and David Fanshawe’s African Sanctus; as well as the world premiers of Nico Muhly’s Jubilate and Paul Dedell’s Divine Chemistry, written expressly for the Concert Choir.
