This concert features some of the best loved works of choral music including Gabriel Faure’s Requiem, Mozart’s Lacrymosa, John Rutter’s “The Lord is My Shepherd”, Randall Thompson’s “Alleluia”, Antonin Dvorak’s “Goin’ Home”, Largo from New World Symphony, and Dan Forrest’s ”Shalom”. iCal 7:30 PM. Lexington Pops Chorus [MA]: Non-Audition Open Rehearsals. Sing with Lexington Pops Chorus in Its 42nd Season! Free open rehearsals will be held on Tuesdays, September 12th and 19th. Singers must be able to read music. Now beginning its 42nd year, the chorus enjoys the enthusiasm of members from over 15 area towns. We sing a wide variety of music, including classical, Broadway, jazz, folk and gospel. Our winter concerts on January 19 and 20, 2024, will be dedicated to Bob Lague, who directed the chorus for 41 years since its inception in 1982. The program will feature Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem, Randall Thompson’s “Alleluia”, “How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place” from Johannes Brahms’ A German Requiem, “Goin' Home”, adapted from the Largo of Dvorak’s “New World" Symphony, and more.   • Musica Sacra [MA]: In Music is Such Art: Choral Music set to texts of Shakespeare. Brush up your Shakespeare! From the time of his contemporary, Thomas Morley, to the present day, composers have turned to his expressive poetry to further explore his keen observations of the human condition. Modern composers such as Mäntyjärvi, Diemer, Komulainen, Harris, Helldén, Johanson, and Hamilton, as well as 19th century ones such as Macfarren, Pearsall and Amy Beach have all set his texts, be they poetry or songs or famous soliloquies from his plays.   • Pioneer Valley Symphony Orchestra: Oliver Towne: Streaming Free May 1. The PVS Orchestra’s 30th annual Mary Stuart Rogers Education Concert was performed on April 11th for almost one thousand 3rd & 4th graders in Greenfield, MA. A video of the world premiere of Oliver Towne, a radio play-style composition from Andrés Martín and poet Roger Arvid Anderson, will be available to stream free on our YouTube channel beginning May 1st.
